Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, met Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa in Damascus on Friday, focusing on lifting international sanctions and supporting Syria’s recovery, ArabNews reports.
This was Prince Faisal’s first official visit since Bashar Assad’s fall.
The talks addressed Syria’s security, stability, and economic recovery, with Prince Faisal calling for the acceleration of sanction relief. He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s active dialogue with the US and EU, noting positive developments.
The visit follows the US easing sanctions for humanitarian aid and reports of the EU considering similar steps. Saudi Arabia has also increased humanitarian support to Syria this year.
