Türkiye sent six trucks carrying critical medical supplies to Iran on Thursday, reinforcing humanitarian assistance amid challenging cross-border conditions.
The shipment, coordinated by the Van Provincial Health Directorate, includes medicines, serum, medical consumables, devices, stretchers and oxygen cylinders collected from healthcare institutions in Van and other Turkish provinces.
The supplies were prepared and loaded by local health personnel before being transported to Iran via the Gürbulak checkpoint in Ağrı’s Doğubayazıt district.
Van Provincial Health Director Muhammed Tosun said the operation reflects a coordinated national effort guided by Türkiye’s leadership and aimed at supporting both medical staff and civilians in need.
Tosun noted that this is not the first such delivery, bringing the total number of aid trucks sent to Iran to nine, following an earlier shipment of three trucks.
“We hope this war will come to an end very soon, allowing our Iranian colleagues to carry out their work more freely,” he added.
The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) recently carried out another humanitarian operation, sending four trucks with 48 tonnes of aid, including shelter materials, hygiene kits and trauma supplies, to Iran earlier this month.
