Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and China Eximbank Chairman Chen Huaiyu signed a $500 million loan agreement for the telecom sector on June 21.
During their meeting in Tashkent, Kudratov and Chen Huaiyu also reviewed progress on current projects and explored new areas of cooperation, including hydropower infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, and modernization of Uzbekistan’s transport network.
The newly signed $500 million telecom sector agreement will accelerate Uzbekistan’s IT development. Minister Kudratov expressed confidence that Eximbank’s continued support would bring strong results for Uzbekistan’s digital economy.
Since 2002, China Eximbank has supported 51 joint projects in Uzbekistan worth $3.2 billion, spanning infrastructure, green energy, transport, agriculture, education, and healthcare. Currently, two projects worth $1.9 billion are in progress, with another 13 projects valued at $2.2 billion under review.
