Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that China-Kyrgyzstan relations have reached their strongest point in history. He made the remarks during a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on the sidelines of the 2nd China-Central Asia Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.
“We sincerely appreciate the achieved level of comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual respect, equality and good neighborliness,” - said Kyrgyz President as his press service reported.
Sadyr Japarov highlighted China as a key investment partner for Kyrgyzstan and welcomed the commencement of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction.
Xi Jinping expressed China’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan by expanding trade and investment, strengthening financial ties, improving connectivity, and advancing the high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
Xi also called for fostering new growth areas in clean energy, green minerals, and artificial intelligence, enhancing cultural, tourism, education, and health exchanges, and implementing more people-centered projects.
Highlighting that both countries benefit from economic globalization, he stressed the importance of jointly opposing unilateralism, protecting the international economic and trade order, and promoting a fairer global governance system.
Regarding the upcoming rotating presidencies and summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Xi affirmed China’s commitment to work with Kyrgyzstan to support each other and promote the SCO’s development.
Following the talks, a package of documents was signed, including:
A letter of exchange between Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers and China’s Government to implement the project on providing specialized equipment to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
A memorandum of understanding between Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies and China’s National Development and Reform Commission to establish a cooperation center for AI applications between China and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member state Kyrgyzstan.
A memorandum on cooperation in the processing industry between Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
An agreement on cooperation in cross-border healthcare and quarantine between Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Healthcare and China’s General Administration of Customs.
A memorandum of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan’s Kabar National News Agency and China Media Group.
A memorandum on mutual understanding and cooperation in news content exchange between Kyrgyzstan’s Slovo Kyrgyzstana Publishing House and China’s Xinhua News Agency.
