Transport ministers from China and Central Asian countries signed two memoranda of understanding to enhance digitalization and streamline cross-border freight operations, aiming to unlock greater economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation potential in the region.
Transport ministers from China and Central Asian countries convened for a six-party meeting to discuss the current state of global and regional transport, sharing views on unlocking the full potential of economic, trade, and humanitarian ties.
During the discussions, participants emphasized the need to establish a multilateral transport cooperation program between China and the Central Asian states. This initiative is intended to enable electronic document exchange and real-time cargo tracking, contributing to a more efficient international road transport system.
A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of two important documents: a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on digitalization in international road transport and another MoU between the respective transport ministries. These agreements aim to simplify the exchange of foreign permit forms (FIR) by transitioning to an electronic format.
Ministers also agreed on the importance of easing border crossing procedures for both road and rail transportation between China and Central Asia. The meeting further highlighted the necessity of professional training cooperation, with officials calling for the establishment of a mechanism to connect research and analytical centers.
The participants underlined the importance of collaboration in transport education to ensure scientific and academic support for the implementation of international transport projects across the region.
