Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Uzbekistan at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to attend the 7th Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State.
President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Uzbekistan on Friday to take part in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
An honour guard greeted him at Tashkent International Airport, where he was received by Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and senior officials.
A one-to-one meeting between President Aliyev and President Mirziyoyev took place later in the day.

Diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have strengthened in recent years, supported by shared cultural roots and a coordinated regional outlook. Both governments describe their cooperation as a comprehensive partnership shaped by regular high-level dialogue and aligned positions in regional organisations.
Officials note that the relationship has matured into a structured political framework with expanding areas of engagement. Trade turnover between the two countries has risen steadily, surpassing previous annual levels.
Growth has been driven by cooperation across agriculture, industry, transport and services.
An increasing number of Uzbek companies now operate in Azerbaijan, while Azerbaijani investment has expanded in several Uzbek sectors. Baku and Tashkent view their partnership as part of a wider regional map that connects the South Caucasus with Central Asia.
Transport corridors, energy routes and new logistics chains form the core of this agenda.
Both sides coordinate closely within regional formats, including the Organisation of Turkic States, where their positions are often aligned.
President Aliyev’s visit is expected to reinforce this momentum.
