Brazil has announced the date and venue for the BRICS leaders' summit in 2025. It is planned to be held in Rio de Janeiro, from July 6 to 7.
Brasil assumed the BRICS Presidency for this year under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.”
The authorities intend to focus particularly on six central areas: cooperation in global health, trade and finance, climate change issues, governance of artificial intelligence, reform of the multilateral peace and security architecture and institutional development.
Over 100 ministerial and technical meetings are scheduled to take place between February and July 2025 in Brasilia.

We will host Heads of State from the 20 countries that are part of the BRICS in the two categories of full members and partners. The BRICS is a group formed by eleven countries: Brasil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran. It serves as a political and diplomatic coordination forum for countries from the Global South and for coordination in the most diverse areas.
In addition to these nations, BRICS also includes nine partner countries: Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. Countries in this category may be invited to participate in discussions promoted by the mechanism, subject to the consensual approval of the member states.
