Billy Joel has canceled all upcoming concerts in North America and the United Kingdom following a diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, a brain condition affecting his hearing, vision, and balance.

Legendary singer-songwriter Billy Joel has called off all scheduled tour dates across the United States and England due to health complications linked to a neurological disorder.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Joel, 76, revealed that he has been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition marked by fluid buildup in the brain that can impair memory, movement, concentration, and more.

According to his team, recent concert activity worsened Joel's symptoms, leading to issues with his hearing, vision, and balance. Doctors have advised him to undergo targeted physical therapy and avoid performing until he recovers.

“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” Joel said in a personal message to fans.

Back in March, Joel underwent surgery followed by physical therapy. While his team stated at the time that he was expected to fully recover, it remains unclear whether the surgery was connected to the current diagnosis.

Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus is a rare and often difficult-to-diagnose disorder that can progressively impair walking, bladder control, and cognition. Treatment typically involves surgical insertion of a shunt to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid, often followed by physical rehabilitation.

Joel had recently completed a ten-year residency at Madison Square Garden in July 2024 and was slated to perform at major venues this summer, including Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, and MetLife Stadium. All ticket purchases for the canceled shows will be refunded.
