International superstar Taylor Swift used her first appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s 'New Heights' podcast to unveil new details about her upcoming album 'The Life of a Showgirl' out 3 October, including its track list, theme, collaborators and the story behind its cover.
During a nearly two-hour episode of the 'New Heights' podcast hosted by her partner Travis Kelce and his brother Jason she confirmed the album will contain 12 tracks, a nod to its place in her discography, with no bonus editions.
Here's what we found out from the podcast:
Swift reunited with producers Max Martin and Shellback, who worked with her on Red, 1989 and Reputation.
The 35-year-old said 'The Life of a Showgirl' captures the “exuberant, electric and vibrant” energy she felt during her record-breaking Eras Tour, aiming for irresistibly catchy melodies paired with vivid, sharply focused lyrics.
She recorded parts of the album in Sweden while touring in Europe.
The album features a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on its title track, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’
The cover image, showing her floating underwater in a bejewelled bodice, represents “the end of my day” after a performance, while the orange colour palette reflects the energetic period in which it was created.

Unlike her 2024 release 'The Tortured Poets Department', which later expanded to 31 tracks, she said that this 12-track album will stand alone.
“Every song is here for hundreds of reasons. You couldn’t take one out and it be the same album,” she said during the podcast.

Additionally, during the broadcasted chat the singer revealed that she became emotional after learning from her mother that she had regained full ownership of her music catalogue from Shamrock Capital.
The popstar has not confirmed whether she will tour the new album, which follows her $2 billion-grossing 'Eras Tour.'
