Russia and Kazakhstan have signed a formal agreement to move forward with the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, marking a key step in their energy cooperation.
The signing ceremony took place during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and was attended by Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and Almasadam Satkaliyev, chairman of Kazakhstan’s Atomic Energy Agency.
Kazakhstan had previously chosen Rosatom to lead an international consortium for constructing a high-capacity nuclear plant, underscoring deepening energy ties between the two countries.
