China has extended its investigation into European Union pork imports by six months, citing the case's complexity, the country’s commerce ministry said Tuesday.
The anti-dumping probe, originally launched on June 17, 2024, was expected to conclude this week but will now run until December 16. The move comes just days before the one-year deadline and is seen as part of broader trade tensions between Beijing and Brussels.
The investigation was widely viewed as retaliation for the EU’s decision last year to impose anti-subsidy tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. China's extension signals continued strain in trade relations between the two major economies.
