A skydiving plane carrying 20 people has crashed in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

Six passengers were taken to hospital with injuries that could not be treated at the scene. Some were airlifted to nearby hospitals as a precaution, according to local media.

No fatalities were reported in the crash.

The plane, a de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, went down shortly after takeoff from Tullahoma Regional Airport.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
