Israel has reopened its airspace briefly and plans to expand rescue flights to help tens of thousands stranded by widespread cancellations following U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.
Hamas has agreed to a new ceasefire proposal put forward by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, according to a Palestinian official familiar with the group. The plan could lead to a possible end to the fighting in Gaza.
The proposal, shared with Hamas through mediators, includes a 70-day ceasefire and the release of 10 Israeli hostages in two separate groups.
In return, Israel would agree to a partial withdrawal from parts of the Gaza Strip and release several Palestinian prisoners, including hundreds serving long prison sentences.
So far, Israel has not officially responded to the proposal.
