Israeli airstrike hits Toul building in southern Lebanon after evacuation warning, amid ongoing tensions with Hezbollah.
An Israeli airstrike struck a building in Toul, located in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh district, on Thursday, May 22. The Israeli military had previously issued an evacuation warning for the area, urging residents to distance themselves from facilities associated with Hezbollah. The building had been previously damaged in an earlier strike.
In a separate operation, the Israeli military reported eliminating a Hezbollah militant in the Rab El Thalathine area, approximately 17 kilometers southeast of Toul. Additionally, Israeli forces targeted Hezbollah military sites containing rocket launchers and other weaponry in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon. The Israeli military stated that these actions were in response to Hezbollah's alleged violations of the November ceasefire agreement, which mandated the withdrawal of Hezbollah fighters north of the Litani River and the dismantling of military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported no immediate casualties from the strike in Toul. The Israeli military emphasized its commitment to neutralizing threats posed by Hezbollah and preventing the group's rearmament efforts.
The November ceasefire agreement, brokered by the United States, aimed to halt hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. However, both parties have accused each other of violations since its implementation. The situation remains tense, with ongoing military actions and diplomatic efforts to address the underlying issues.
