Turkish, Saudi FMs strengthen ties in Riyadh meeting

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan convened in Riyadh for the second session of the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council, aiming to strengthen ties and address regional challenges.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in Riyadh for the second session of the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council. This marks Fidan’s third visit to Saudi Arabia in the past year, reflecting the strengthening ties between the two nations.

Established in 2016, the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council aims to institutionalize and enhance bilateral relations. Discussions during this session focused on advancing diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation while addressing key regional issues.

The Council comprises five subcommittees covering diplomacy, security, culture, social development, and economic collaboration. Since the Council's inception, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have deepened their economic partnership, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $8 billion in 2024.

In addition to economic ties, both nations collaborate on regional matters, including their involvement in the Gaza Contact Group, showcasing their shared commitment to addressing regional challenges.
