U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Abu Dhabi on Thursday for the final leg of his three-day tour of the Gulf. In a high-level meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the two leaders signed a new strategic framework that expands U.S. access to Emirati military facilities and strengthens joint defense operations.
The agreement aims to deepen defense ties between the United States and the United Arab Emirates through increased military coordination and training. It comes amid heightened regional tensions and efforts to reinforce long-term security partnerships in the Gulf.
At a U.S.–UAE investment summit held during the visit, Trump announced the launch of a bilateral trade council to promote economic collaboration. He also spotlighted upcoming U.S. investments in solar panel manufacturing and green hydrogen initiatives, signaling a shared commitment to clean energy development.
Trump commended the UAE’s active role in the Abraham Accords, which have normalized relations between several Arab nations and Israel. He also issued a stern warning to Iran, urging the country to halt destabilizing actions in the region.
Before concluding his trip, the former president is scheduled to visit a clean-energy research center to observe ongoing technological advancements supported by both countries.
