A missile strike on Ben Gurion Airport wounded eight and disrupted flights, as Yemen’s Houthis warn airlines the site is no longer safe.
At least eight people were injured after a missile landed near Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport, in an attack claimed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
In a statement, the Houthis reiterated their warning to international airlines, declaring the airport "no longer safe for air travel."
The strike caused major disruptions, leaving Israeli and foreign passengers stranded as multiple European and U.S. carriers canceled flights for several days. Many foreign airlines later suspended routes to and from Tel Aviv.
According to airport authorities, the day’s operations were expected to accommodate 422 international flights and around 66,200 passengers. While the Israeli Airport Authority temporarily suspended activity, takeoffs and landings have since resumed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a response to what he called an attack by the Houthis and their Iranian “patron.”
