Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visits Doha to meet Qatar’s Emir and Prime Minister, aiming to deepen ties and coordinate on regional issues, as the two allies strengthen their strategic partnership and prepare for upcoming talks.
Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will meet Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani during his visit to Doha on Sunday, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources confirmed.
The discussions are expected to focus on deepening bilateral relations and coordinating on regional issues. A joint press conference with the Qatari prime minister is also scheduled after the talks.
Fidan last visited Qatar in February, while Qatar’s prime minister traveled to Türkiye earlier this month for an Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) – Gaza Contact Group meeting hosted by Fidan in Antalya.
Over the past decade, Türkiye and Qatar have significantly strengthened their strategic partnership, established in 2014, signing over 100 agreements in various sectors.
Their High Strategic Committee, led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatar’s Emir, last convened in Ankara in November 2024, with the next session planned for Doha later this year.
The two countries often align on regional conflicts, notably in Palestine and Syria, calling for an end to Israel’s attacks on Gaza and working together in bilateral and multilateral forums like the Gaza Contact Group.
