Explosions were reported in Russian-controlled Donetsk on Sunday, despite a Kremlin-declared Easter ceasefire. The blasts raised fresh doubts over the truce, as Kyiv accused Moscow of continuing attacks along the front line.

Multiple explosions were reported in Russian-controlled Donetsk on Sunday, despite a temporary Easter ceasefire declared by the Kremlin. According to Russia’s TASS news agency, citing local emergency services, at least three blasts were heard in the city, which has been under Russian control since 2014.

RIA news agency also confirmed the reports, stating that its correspondent heard three explosions shortly after 09:00 local time (0600 GMT).

Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced a surprise one-day ceasefire on Saturday for the Easter holiday. However, Ukrainian officials accused Moscow of continuing artillery attacks and called for a longer and genuine halt to hostilities.
