A building collapse in New Delhi has killed at least 11 people, including three children, as rescue teams continue searching through the debris for survivors.
At least 11 people, including three children, have died after a building collapsed in New Delhi, India.
Emergency response teams arrived quickly and raced to find survivors trapped under the rubble. Officials said 22 people were pulled out, several of whom were taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. Four later died from their injuries.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi stated that the building was located in an unauthorized colony and lacked proper load-bearing capacity, violating construction norms.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences to the families of the victims and announced compensation for those affected.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway. Building collapses are common in India, often linked to illegal or poorly maintained structures.
