Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that Iran welcomes American investment but will strongly oppose any efforts at regime change or foreign interference.
President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran has no objection to American investors entering the country, as long as it does not involve political interference.
“The leader has no objection to the presence of American investors in the country,” Pezeshkian said, referring to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, during a speech broadcast on state television.
However, he emphasised that Iran firmly opposes US policies aimed at regime change, calling them "flawed conspiracies."
Although Iran and the United States have had no diplomatic relations since 1980, indirect nuclear talks are planned to take place in Oman on Saturday. These discussions follow a letter from US President Donald Trump dated March 7, urging Iran to return to nuclear negotiations and warning of possible military action if it refuses.
Tehran responded by saying it is open to indirect talks but rejects direct negotiations as long as the US continues its "maximum pressure" campaign. “We are ready to negotiate, but not in direct negotiations because we do not trust them,” Pezeshkian said.
