President Donald Trump has expressed his gratitude to El Salvador after the country's president, Nayib Bukele, shared dramatic footage of hundreds of alleged migrant criminals arriving in Central America after being deported from the U.S. on Sunday.
This weekend, at the President’s direction, the Department of Homeland Security successfully arrested nearly 300 Tren de Aragua terrorists and extracted to El Salvador, White House stated
Trump, who recently invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 — a law that permits the deportation of nationals and citizens of an enemy nation without a hearing — thanked Bukele on social media.
"Thank you to El Salvador and, in particular, President Bukele, for your understanding of this horrible situation, which was allowed to happen to the United States because of incompetent Democrat leadership," Trump wrote. "We will not forget!"
According to White House's statement, Tren De Aragua (TDA) considered as "a direct threat to the national security of the United States" is one of the most violent and ruthless terrorist gangs on planet earth. "They rape, maim and murder for sport. TDA is responsible for some of the most heinous crimes that have occurred on US soil in recent years, including the murders of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray", - it reads.
President of El Salvador wrote on X that the first 238 members of the Venezuelan criminal organization TDA arrived in the country. They were immediately transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center, for a period of one year (renewable).
Additionally, the U.S. has sent 23 members of MS-13 transnational criminal organization wanted by Salvadoran justice, including two ringleaders. One of them is a member of the criminal organization’s highest structure.
Late February, the United States announced about the arrest of David Alejandro Orellana-Aleman, 27, in Hyattsville, Maryland, who controlled the operation of MS-13 cliques in the United States, Mexico, and Europe.
"We continue advancing in the fight against organized crime. But this time, we are also helping our allies, making our prison system self-sustainable, and obtaining vital intelligence to make our country an even safer place. All in a single action," - Bukele stated.
