An Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahiya killed 9 Palestinians as Hamas holds ceasefire talks in Cairo.
At least nine people, including two local journalists and a child, have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.
Officials say several others were critically injured when the strike hit a car, causing casualties both inside and outside the vehicle.
The Israeli military stated that it targeted two individuals it identified as "terrorists." It later carried out another strike on several suspects who had allegedly collected drone equipment and entered a vehicle. However, the military did not specify how it determined the individuals were “terrorists” or what threat the drone posed to its soldiers.
The strike comes as Hamas leaders hold ceasefire talks with mediators in Cairo.
The incident highlights the fragility of the January 19 ceasefire agreement, which halted large-scale fighting in Gaza. Palestinian health officials report that dozens of people have been killed by Israeli fire despite the truce.
