Ukrainian President Zelenskyy meets Saudi Crown Prince before crucial U.S. talks. With Ukraine facing military pressure, Zelenskyy seeks a ceasefire and aid, while the U.S. shifts its stance. The delegation will discuss a vital minerals deal for continued support.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Saudi Arabia for a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ahead of high-stakes discussions between Ukraine and the United States. The talks, set for Tuesday, come at a critical moment as Kyiv faces increasing military pressure and uncertainty over U.S. support.
Saudi Arabia has played a mediating role in the conflict, previously brokering prisoner exchanges and facilitating dialogue between Russia and the U.S. However, Washington’s stance on the war has shifted, with President Donald Trump pushing for a rapid resolution while cutting off key military aid to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy, under immense pressure to align with Trump’s vision, has called for a temporary ceasefire, including an air and naval truce, alongside a prisoner exchange. However, Moscow has dismissed these proposals as an attempt to delay Ukraine’s military struggles.
While Zelenskyy will not personally attend the U.S.-Ukraine talks, his delegation will discuss a bilateral minerals deal, which Washington sees as vital for continued support. As Ukraine’s battlefield position weakens, Zelenskyy is urging European allies to bolster their aid, warning of escalating Russian offensives.
