The strikes hit the eastern city of Dobropillia in the Donetsk region and a separate area in the Kharkiv region, according to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.
In Dobropillia, the ministry stated that 11 people were killed and 30 injured – including five children – during the assault that involved ballistic missiles, multiple rockets, and drones. The attack caused significant damage, destroying eight multi-storey buildings and damaging around 30 vehicles. “While extinguishing the fire, the occupiers struck again, damaging the fire truck,” the ministry noted in a statement on the Telegram messenger.
Separately, a drone attack in the Kharkiv region claimed the lives of three civilians and injured seven others. Ukrainian military sources added that Russia’s barrage included two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, one Iskander-K cruise missile, and a total of 145 drones. Air forces managed to shoot down one cruise missile and 79 drones, with another 54 drones likely intercepted via electronic countermeasures.
Dobropillia, which had a pre-war population of about 28,000, is located roughly 22 kilometers (13.67 miles) from the front line north of the key hub of Pokrovsk, a target of ongoing attacks by Russian troops.
Ukrainian officials continue to investigate the full impact of the strikes as efforts are underway to assist those affected by the latest round of violence.
