European Council President António Costa has confirmed that he, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, will visit Kyiv on February 24, marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
"Monday, February 24, marks the third anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. I have decided to be in Kyiv for that occasion, with Ursula von der Leyen, to reaffirm our support to the heroic Ukrainian people and to the democratically elected president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy," - Costa announced on the platform X.
President Ursula von der Leyen and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will co-chair a joint meeting of the European Commission and the Ukrainian government on Monday in Kyiv.
"President will travel to Kyiv, along with the European commissioners, to express Europe's unwavering support for Ukraine's fight for independence and freedom after three years of full-scale war with Russia," said the Commision's spokesperson Stefan Kersmacker confirming the joint meeting on 24th February.
Ukrania's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that European commissioners would hold joint consultations with the government, as well as to discuss cooperation in the field of security and defense, sanctions against Russia, as well as country's integration into the EU and economic cooperation between the two sides.
