Demonstrations were held in Austin, Texas, against President Donald Trump’s latest policies on Monday. Their anger turned toward billionaire Elon Musk, who now leads the newly created Department of Government Efficiency.
Hundreds gathered in Austin, Texas, to protest against the policies of newly appointed U.S. President Donald Trump, particularly his decision to appoint billionaire Elon Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department has been tasked with eliminating wasteful spending as part of a sweeping government overhaul, which includes thousands of job cuts.
Protesters voiced their concerns over what they see as an overreach of power.
One of the protesters, Susan Poisson thinks that, Congress needs to step in and protect the power of the purse. Also, protester, Julia Hook said that she feels like she have to do something to push back against this administration, especially against the unconstitutional power grabs by Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
The frustration extends beyond the streets. According to sources, some of Trump’s top aides, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, have expressed concerns about a lack of coordination with Musk’s team.
Despite the criticism, Trump’s new order mandates all government agencies to consult with DOGE, emphasizing that Musk’s cost-cutting measures are crucial to curbing spending abuses.
