A grenade explosion at a bar in Grenoble injured 12 people on Wednesday night. Authorities are investigating the incident.
Twelve people were injured, two of them critically, after a grenade was thrown into a bar in Grenoble’s Olympic Village district on Wednesday night. According to reports, the attacker, who was allegedly armed with a Kalashnikov, entered the Aksehir bar, detonated the grenade without saying a word, and quickly fled the scene.
The explosion shattered windows and sent patrons into panic. Emergency services arrived swiftly, providing medical assistance and transporting the injured to Grenoble Alpes University Hospital.
Authorities are investigating the incident, with early indications suggesting it may have been related to a local dispute rather than an act of terrorism. Grenoble’s mayor, Éric Piolle, condemned the attack, calling it an “extreme act of violence,” and commended the emergency response teams for their rapid intervention. The incident has renewed concerns over public safety in the city as officials work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
