Iran's football team has thanked Los Angeles for its hospitality, after a goalless draw with Belgium kept the side's hopes of reaching the World Cup knockout stages.
The Iranian squad left a handwritten note in the Los Angeles Stadium dressing room following Sunday's 0-0 draw, expressing gratitude to the U.S. city after playing both of their Group G matches there.
"Thank you Los Angeles for your hospitality," the message read. "We came to Los Angeles with pride, competed with honour, and leave with dignity."
The note, released by Iran's Football Federation, also thanked supporters for giving their "heart, voice and soul" during the matches and called for peace, respect and friendship among nations.
Iran have based themselves in Tijuana, Mexico, during the tournament, travelling into the U.S. for matches, because of restrictions affecting their stay. Several members of the team's staff and officials have been barred from entering the United States.
Head Coach Amir Ghalenoei has criticised the arrangements, saying his side has faced challenges unlike any other team at the tournament. U.S. officials have said the travel measures remain under review.
Iran, who opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against New Zealand, will face Egypt in Seattle in their final group match on Saturday.
