Israel's security cabinet met to discuss a ceasefire deal with Hamas and the release of hostages, with the first hostages expected to be freed on Sunday.
The Israeli security cabinet met at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office to discuss the ceasefire deal with Hamas and the release of hostages, according to local sources. Netanyahu’s office confirmed that the first hostages are expected to be freed under the deal on Sunday.

The full Israeli cabinet is expected to meet later on Friday to give final approval to the deal, though there have been concerns that the agreement might be delayed.
Israel had delayed expected cabinet meetings on Thursday, citing longstanding divisions among ministers and blaming Hamas for the delay. Hamas has reiterated its commitment to the agreement.
