U.S. signals ‘finish line’ approaching in Iran war as attacks in Middle East continue

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declared that Washington can finally see the "finish line" in the month -long war in Iran, indicating that direct talks between the two nations remain a distinct possibility. The comment comes as the United Arab Emirates says it intercepted two drones overnight with debris killing one person in Fujairah. Meanwhile, near Qatar, a tanker was hit by two projectiles with one causing a fire. Over at the border between Israel and Lebanon, Israeli Defense Forces say one of their drones was downed by an surface-to-air missile in southern Lebanon overnight.

President Trump says the war with Iran could end in a matter of weeks

President Donald Trump, told reporters that the U.S. could end its military campaign within "two to three weeks," adding that securing a diplomatic deal with Tehran is no longer a prerequisite for withdrawal. "Iran doesn't have to make a deal, no," he said. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a stark warning to European allies, suggesting the U.S. must fundamentally re-examine its relationship with NATO after the conflict concludes, accusing member states of operating a "one-way street" by denying Washington vital basing and overflight rights during the campaign.

Explosions rock Damascus as Syria vows to stay out of regional war

Loud explosions were heard across Damascus on Tuesday as Israeli air defences intercepted Iranian missiles over the Syrian capital, according to state television reports. The incident occurred on the same day Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa spoke at Chatham House in London, where he stated that Syria will remain neutral and outside of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran unless directly subjected to aggression. Highlighting the recent deployment of thousands of Syrian troops to secure the nation's borders with Lebanon and Iraq, the President emphasised that after years of devastating internal conflict, Syria is "not ready for another war experience" and is instead focused on rebuilding strategic relationships globally.

All 29 people on board a Russian military plane that crashed in Crimea have died

A Russian military An-26 transport aircraft has crashed in Crimea, killing all 29 people on board, the Russian Defence Ministry has confirmed. The Soviet-era plane, carrying six crew members and 23 passengers, lost contact during a routine flight before its wreckage was discovered by search and rescue teams. Early indications from military officials suggest the crash was caused by a technical failure that led the aircraft to strike a cliff, with no evidence of external damage from missiles, drones, or bird strikes.
