The satellite was launched into space on Tuesday via SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, ushering in a new era for the Small Geostationary Satellite category.
The Turkish Space Agency confirmed the launch, noting that the satellite is designed to provide global coverage in communication and geo-positioning, and will play a pioneering role in future technologies. The Transporter-12 mission, launched from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in the US, carried 131 payloads, including cube satellites, microsatellites, and orbital transfer vehicles, along with the FGN-100-d1.
Fergani Space's satellite successfully underwent its hydrogen peroxide engine firing test in May last year, paving the way for this momentous launch. The mission also included satellites from another Turkish company, Plan-S, which is developing global solutions in IoT and 6G NTN communication technologies through its commercial satellite program.
With this launch, Turkey's space initiatives continue to grow. The Turkish Space Agency highlighted that Plan-S has already successfully launched nine satellites and is actively working to expand its IoT satellite network.
