Storm Kristin has killed at least three people and left more than 800,000 residents without electricity across central and northern Portugal, as violent winds, heavy rain and snowfall battered the country before moving into Spain.
Emergency services said one person was killed when a tree fell onto a car in Vila Franca de Xira, on the outskirts of Lisbon. Two more fatalities were reported in the central district of Leiria, one of the areas worst affected by the storm, according to local authorities.
