3 people have been killed after a light aircraft crashed near the Western Australian city of Perth. The privately owned plane departed Rottnest island carrying a total of seven people, including the pilot. It then crashed into the sea moments after takeoff.
A rescue team managed to save the surviving passengers who have sustained injuries. According to authorities, the crash occurred in front of holidaymakers, including families with children vacationing on the island.
The deceased include the pilot, from Perth, and two tourists from Switzerland and Denmark.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau says expert investigators have been sent to determine the cause of the crash.
