Israeli gunfire killed at least three Palestinians in two separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, local health authorities reported, as tensions continue to simmer despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Israeli gunfire killed at least three Palestinians in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian health authorities said, amid continuing tensions despite a ceasefire agreed in October between Israel and Hamas.

Medics said one man was killed in the Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City, an area under Palestinian administration.

Two others were shot dead in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis, which remains under Israeli military control. The Israeli army did not comment on either incident.

The ceasefire, brokered in October after two years of intense fighting, significantly reduced hostilities between Israel and Hamas.

However, alleged violations have continued, with each side accusing the other of breaching the truce.

A Hamas official told Reuters the group had urged international mediators to intervene, accusing Israel of carrying out "daily killings" that risk undermining the fragile agreement.

Since the ceasefire took effect, more than 440 Palestinians, most of them civilians have been killed, according to Gaza health officials. Israel says three of its soldiers have died during the same period.

The latest deaths have heightened concerns that the ceasefire could collapse, raising the prospect of a return to wider conflict.
