President Donald Trump claimed on Monday that tariff revenues collected by the U.S. will surpass $600 billion, saying the measures have strengthened the country financially and enhanced its international standing.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that the tariffs have made the U.S. “far stronger and more respected than ever before,” and criticised media coverage he described as hostile. He linked the tariffs to national security and highlighted an ongoing Supreme Court case assessing whether he exceeded his presidential authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

U.S. Treasury Department data show that total net revenue from tariffs between January and November last year was $236.2 billion. The Supreme Court heard arguments on November 5 regarding the legality of some tariffs. The Trump administration has indicated it may continue to enforce them through alternative legal mechanisms if the court rules against it.

The outcome of the case could affect billions of dollars in future tariff revenue and the scope of presidential powers on trade measures.
