The U.S. State Department has authorised a potential Foreign Military Sale of Advanced Medium Range Air‑to‑Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Denmark, aimed at bolstering the Scandinavian nation’s air defence capabilities, the Pentagon’s Defence Security Cooperation Agency said on Monday.

The sale is intended to strengthen Denmark’s air‑to‑air capabilities and improve interoperability with NATO allies. RTX Corporation, based in Arlington, Virginia, has been named as the principal contractor for the deal.

The determination follows broader U.S. efforts to enhance allied defence capabilities and regional security in Europe. In December, the State Department also approved a separate AMRAAM sale worth around $730 million, covering 200 AIM‑120C‑8 missiles, aimed at supporting Denmark’s F‑35A fleet.

Officials said the sale underscores ongoing U.S. support for NATO partners as they modernise military systems to address evolving security challenges in northern Europe.
