Russian drones trigger fires in Kyiv apartment buildings, officials say

Russian drones swarmed the Ukrainian capital Kyiv early on Tuesday, striking and triggering fires in at least two residential buildings, officials said.

Officials said four people were injured. Air defence units were in action around the capital.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the capital's military administration, said on Telegram that a high-rise residential building had been hit in a district on the east bank of the Dnipro River.

He said four people had been treated for injuries and at least eight rescued from the building. Pictures posted on unofficial Telegram channels showed apartments on fire on upper floors.

U.S. moves toward new Venezuela action amidst rising tensions

The United States is preparing to launch a new phase of Venezuela-related operations in the coming days, four U.S. officials told Reuters, as the Trump administration escalates pressure on President Nicolas Maduro.

The officials – who all spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter – said it was unclear when or how broad the operations would be, or whether U.S. President Donald Trump had given final approval.

Two officials said covert actions were likely to form the first stage.

Ukraine's Zelenskyy says he will discuss 'sensitive' issues of proposed peace plan with Trump

"Today our delegation returned from Geneva after negotiations with the American side and European partners. Now the list of necessary steps to end the war can become doable.

"As of now, after Geneva, there are fewer points – no longer 28 – and many of the right elements have been taken into account in this framework," Zelenskyy said in a video message on the US social media company X’s platform.

First Azerbaijan–Türkiye Think Tank Forum convenes in Shusha

The first Azerbaijan–Türkiye Think Tank Forum concluded on Monday in Shusha, bringing together leading analysts, experts and academics from both countries for a day of discussions on regional politics, strategic coordination and shared foreign policy priorities.

The forum, held at the Shusha Hotel, continued into private exchanges after the panel sessions ended. Participants reviewed the outcomes of the day’s debates, with proposals expected to be refined and later conveyed to the governments of both countries. Organisers noted that the role of think tanks is not to make decisions, but to prepare the intellectual groundwork on which governments base them.

The event was organised by the Centre for Analysis of International Relations, alongside Türkiye’s Strategic Research Centre. Opening remarks by AIR Centre Chairman Farid Shafiyev and SAM Chairman Polat Safi underlined the forum’s purpose in strengthening regional partnerships and expanding institutional cooperation between policy research institutions.

Nine children killed in Pakistani attack in Afghan province, Taliban says

At least nine children and a woman were killed after Pakistani forces bombed the home of a local resident in Afghanistan's Khost province, Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Tuesday.

Mujahid said Pakistan also carried out raids in the provinces of Kunar and Paktika, injuring four civilians.

"Last night at 12 o'clock in the Gerbzwo district of Khawst province, Pakistani invading forces bombed the house of civilian local resident Wilayat Khan, which martyred 9 children (5 boys and 4 girls) and one woman, and destroyed their house," Mujahid said in a post on X, accompanied by pictures of the dead.

The Pakistan military and foreign ministry could not be reached for comment outside business hours.
