A light aircraft crash in Kenya on Wednesday (28 October) has claimed the lives of eight Hungarian and two German tourists, as well as a Kenyan pilot.
The plane was travelling from the resort town of Diani on the Indian Ocean coast to the Maasai Mara reserve when it went down in a forested area in Kwale County at around 08:30 local time (05:30 GMT). Smoke rose from the wreckage, and the tourists’ clothing was scattered across the ground and caught in nearby trees.
Investigators have been dispatched to determine the cause of the crash. Eyewitness Amadi Garashi said that body parts and identification documents, including two passports, were found at the scene. “We do not know why the plane exploded. The items found will help establish the identities of the victims,” he added.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families. Details will be released once all information has been fully collected and confirmed.”
