A light aircraft carrying foreign tourists from Hungary and Germany crashed in Kenya on Tuesday morning, killing all 11 people on board.

The plane, operated by Mombasa Air Safari, went down near Kwale, close to Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline, at about 08:30 local time (05:30 GMT), the Civil Aviation Authority said.

The aircraft was en route from the coastal resort of Diani to Kichwa Tembo, a luxury safari camp in the Maasai Mara national reserve.

All 10 passengers were foreign nationals—eight from Hungary and two from Germany. The pilot, a Kenyan national, also died in the crash, the airline confirmed in a statement.

“Sadly, there are no survivors,” Mombasa Air Safari said.

Regional police commander Fredrick Ochieng, speaking to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, said the passengers were all tourists.

Citizen TV reported that the bodies had been burned beyond recognition.
