President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces have destroyed a “drug-carrying” submarine travelling toward the United States on what he described as a “well-known narcotrafficking route.”
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said the vessel had been “loaded mostly with fentanyl and other illegal narcotics.”
“There were four known narcoterrorists on board the vessel. Two of the terrorists were killed,” Trump said, adding that no U.S. personnel were harmed during the strike.
Trump praised the operation as a significant success against international drug trafficking networks, calling it “a great honour” for the U.S. forces involved in the mission.
U.S. officials have not yet disclosed details about the vessel’s origin or the exact location of the strike.
