Iran’s enriched uranium remains under the rubble of nuclear facilities affected by June attacks, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

Araqchi said that Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation is currently assessing the condition of the uranium and whether it can be accessed safely. Once this evaluation is complete, the results will be sent to the Supreme National Security Council, which will decide the country’s next steps regarding the stockpile.

He added that Iran would respond firmly if the United Nations reinstates sanctions, with the Council determining how and in what form any action would take place. Regarding the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Araqchi said leaving the treaty is one of several options, but any decision will be based on what best serves Iran’s national interests.

Araqchi also noted that under a recent agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency, no inspections are currently allowed. Any future inspections would require additional negotiations and approval from the Supreme National Security Council.
