Christmas events are celebrated in Syria's capital Damascus, just thirteen days after the defeat of President Bashar Al-Assad's regime.
In Damascus, visitors strolled around the Christmas market and took pictures of the bright Christmas decorations.
After the collapse of President Al-Assad's regime, Christmas celebrations opened to the public, for the first time in 13 years. Residents radiate with joy as the nation embraces a sense of safety, living up to the holiday spirit.
On December 8, the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), took control of Syria after advancing to Damascus. Since then, many Syrians, fearing persecution, have fled despite promises of safety.
Meeting in Jordan on December 14, diplomats from the U.S., Türkiye, the EU, and Arab states called for Syria’s new government to uphold minority rights, fostering unity, amid diverse religious and cultural heritage.
