China successfully launched the Gaofen-12 05 Earth observation satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center
China has successfully launched a new Earth observation satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The Gaofen-12 05 satellite, carried by a Long March-4C rocket, took off at 7:45 a.m. Beijing Time on Wednesday.
After entering its designated orbit, the satellite is set to play a critical role in various fields, including land surveys, urban planning, land rights verification, and road network design. Additionally, it will contribute to crop yield estimation and enhance efforts in disaster prevention and mitigation.
This launch marks the 540th flight of the Long March carrier rocket series, underscoring China’s continued advancements in space technology. The Gaofen satellites are part of China’s High-resolution Earth Observation System (CHEOS), aimed at providing comprehensive, accurate, and timely information for a wide range of applications.
