Israeli troops have entered the buffer zone between Syria and the Golan Heights following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
The forces, supported by heavy machinery and military vehicles, have secured key positions near Israel's border.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated that the deployment is temporary and intended to ensure security until a force adhering to the 1974 ceasefire agreement can be established.
The Israeli government emphasized that the collapse of Syria's regime created a security vacuum in the buffer zone, which Israel cannot permit to be occupied by jihadi groups that could endanger Israeli communities in the Golan Heights.
