Macron and Wang Yi vow stronger trade ties and global cooperation

French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Paris to discuss enhancing trade, multilateralism, and cooperation on global challenges.

During their meeting in Paris, Emmanuel Macron and Wang Yi emphasized the importance of promoting multilateralism and preventing global conflicts driven by hegemonic rivalries.

Macron highlighted the shared responsibility of France and China amid global uncertainties and welcomed Chinese investments in France. Both leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation on international economic governance and global challenges.

Wang described China and France as strategic partners and key stabilizing forces, stressing China’s commitment to building an open, market-driven economy while encouraging France to provide a fair environment for Chinese businesses.

The two also addressed recent trade issues, such as the resolution of anti-dumping duties on French brandy, and discussed major international concerns including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Gaza Strip, and the Iranian nuclear issue.
