Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s ultra-low-fare national airline, has officially launched flights from Gabala, adding a second Azerbaijani city to its growing network and becoming the only low-cost carrier to connect the region with Abu Dhabi.
The new route between Gabala and Abu Dhabi will operate three times per week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This connection aims to boost tourism, cultural exchange, and business ties between Azerbaijan’s northwestern region and the UAE capital.
Tamara Vallois, Head of Commercial at Wizz Air, said: “Today marks a significant milestone as we commence our flights to Gabala and add it as a new point on the WIZZ map of affordable travel. The launch of direct commercial operations opens up new opportunities to boost tourism and drive economic growth in the region. We remain committed to expanding our network and providing value-driven travel options.”
Teymur Hasanov, Operations Director for Airports of Azerbaijan, added: “This flight not only reinforces Gabala’s visibility on the global aviation map but also acts as a catalyst for unlocking the full tourism, investment, and logistics potential of the northwestern region of our country.”
