On May 6, Belarus Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin visited Azerbaijan's Fuzuli city, where he was briefed on the ongoing large-scale reconstruction and development efforts following the region's liberation. The visit is part of his official trip to Azerbaijan.
Together with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Turchin also visited the Aghdam Industrial Park, where they reviewed municipal utility vehicles and equipment donated by the Belarusian government to support the city’s recovery.
The Aghdam Industrial Park, established by presidential decree in May 2021, focuses on sectors such as construction materials, food processing, packaging, fertilizers, and cold storage. Spanning 190 hectares, over 70% of the park has already been allocated to entrepreneurs.
To date, 27 resident and 5 non-resident businesses are registered in the park. A total of 32 projects are expected to bring in more than $148 million in investments and create over 2,100 jobs, most for locals. So far, $66 million has been invested, with 649 permanent jobs created. Nine enterprises are already operational, having produced $50 million worth of goods to date, including nearly $37 million in just the first quarter of this year.
Over 10 new enterprises are under construction, with several new factories set to launch soon. The park offers an investor-friendly environment, including ready-to-use infrastructure and generous tax exemptions: no property, land, or profit taxes for 10 years, VAT and customs exemptions on imported equipment, discounted utilities, subsidized social insurance, and access to low-interest bank loans.
