The construction of an international airport is planned within the Alat Free Economic Zone. Initially intended for cargo transportation only, the facility’s status has been upgraded to operate as a full-scale international airport.
The announcement was made by Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority, during his speech at the international event titled "Pharmaceutical Industry of Azerbaijan: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow".
According to Alasgarov, the airport will cover an area of 750 hectares. He noted that the Alat Free Economic Zone is located at the crossroads of major international transport corridors, and the new airport will greatly simplify transport and logistics processes for investors.
