Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday that Russia and Belarus are planning to establish a joint aviation factory focused on producing drones and other aircraft. The announcement came during a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the Russian city of Volgograd.
Putin stated that the two leaders had agreed to deepen industrial cooperation through the creation of joint ventures in aviation manufacturing. “We are prepared to jointly establish a factory along with your experts, complete with a specialized drone lab,” Putin said, highlighting the plans.
Drawing on extensive collaborative experience dating back to the Soviet era, Putin emphasized the strong historical foundation for the new initiative. He also mentioned that further areas of industrial partnership are under discussion between Moscow and Minsk.
“Our respective governments continuously engage in collaborative efforts. Both you and I are informed about the agreements being finalized by our teams,” he added.
The project marks a significant step in strengthening Russia-Belarus cooperation amid broader efforts to expand economic and defense ties between the two allied nations.
